i was a long time believer in sekka mermail but i have been a longer term believer in playing 60 so this deck has really been a melding of two loves; abyssmegalo is the biggest story for me here i wrote this card off completely but it's actually so good especially going second to just trigger two names and chainblock them is ridiculous
similar story with the eternal goat storming poseidra who continues to be the greatest piece of going second engine in existence
obviously the go 1st plan of handloop your opponent for 2-3 and set up a board with near perfect information remains incredibly strong and not fun for your opponent but the real joy of this deck has always been in the capacity to go second; you're playing an ftk deck that can also break boards and otk, which is of course a great set of qualities in best of 1
the aforementioned abyssmegalo and storming poseidra are great for this but another card i abandoned after initially using him when i first picked up mermail is marksman, he sniped a minimum of 5 super polys before i had committed 2 monsters fo the field and the utility against a branded endboard which generally features 2 sets of a guy who just forces backrow for free was so good
the most annoying thing with this list is the same as with any mermail list and that is the bricking on engine; bricking on non-engine basically did not occur but opening coelacanth 3 games in a row will have you considering frying him
icejade ran aegerine was originally there as a coelecanth alternative should he get banished by desires but desires annoyed me more than it helped me and aegerine proved itself as pretty useful; getting an immediate gymir going second into a removal-based board is so strong and of course it triggers any names you pitch
non-engine wise i was just messing around with stuff, i wanted it to be 60 because it just looks neater so there was a lot of random stuff in there alternating, the droplet was a replacement for an illusion gate which did nothing in the game i drew it and then droplet won me my rank-up game by letting triple tac dodge flame but you can do whatever
kurikara divincarnate seemed funny but it never came up i think i summoned her once, the main notional utility was small world from neptabyss to droll to her but then i realised that neptabyss and droll both have 0 defence so that's not even possible, but you can go neptabyss through kurikara into droll at the end of your combo/if you get maxx c'd to then do droll lines
